Kid's Web Kit
Authors: Lisa Lopuck. Paperback, 64 pagesPublisher: Addison Wesley Longman Publication Date: 1997-05 Reviews :
Kid's Web Kit is an interactive CD-ROM and book package that walks kids through the creation of their own Web sites. The bi-platform CD uses an animated, talking character to guide kids through each step, as they choose from professional web site formats and beautiful background graphics designed by the author, use their creative talents to decorate the backgrounds, and then add messages, sound files, and links to their pages. Finally, they can upload their new sites to the Web. The accompanying full-color 50-page booklet provides a visual, road map-like reference for the kids to use while they create their Web sites, plus "dressed up" samples to provide design ideas and inspiration....

Only people without kids will fail to understand why the Kid's WebKit is a cool idea. Shouldn't they be outside, playing with sticks and stuff? But kids are people too, and deserve their own web pages--especially when they are so easily constructed and can be based on such fun themes as Lost in Space or Pop Art. WebKit comprises a colorful 55-page booklet with kid-friendly instructions and a CD-ROM, which is really the focus of the package. It contains template graphics in various formats that suggest layout options, clip art, small-footprint pre-started html pages in a number of thematic designs, a library of sound clips, and a few other tidbits, including a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer. The system requirements for Kid's WebKit include a Mac or Windows PC, a paint program (not included) for altering and creating Web graphics, and at least one child age seven and up....
